Isfahan University of Technology Researchers Design Novel System to Generate Electricity from Low-Frequency Sounds

Researchers at Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) have successfully designed and fabricated a new generation of triboelectric nanogenerators capable of converting sound energy into electricity. The findings of this research have been published in the prestigious international journal *Nano Energy*, which holds an impact factor of 17.1.

This study stems from the master's thesis of Fatemeh Irannejad, a student at IUT’s Department of Textile Engineering. The project was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Parham Soltani and Dr. Mohsen Shanbeh (faculty members of the Department of Textile Engineering) and with the consultation of Dr. Ali Loghmani and Dr. Saeed Ziaei-Rad (faculty members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering).

In this study, the researchers developed an innovative system to convert energy from ambient sounds—specifically low-frequency sounds—into electrical energy. This technology offers a novel solution for powering low-energy electronic devices, smart systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) equipment.
